In The Netherlands we don't have boxing day.
Our gift event starts with the arrival of Sinterklaas in the second half of November and ends during the night of the 5th to the 6th of december.
The days before Sinterklaas leaves people put their shoes in front of the hearth...or somewhere else.. with a little gift in it: a drawing for Sinterklaas and his helpers, or a carrot or straw for the horse.
In the morning they will find a small gift. Some sweets, or a little toy.
During the night Sinterklaas leaves, he puts the larger presents in the house. Either near the shoes or on the table.
